Supreme Court hearing on petitions filed against 10 percent reservation for upper castes
New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear today the petitions filed against the law to give reservations to the upper castes, ie 10 percent reservation to the poor of the general category. Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to ban the law of 10 per cent reservation. The court had said that in the next hearing, it will be considered whether the 124th constitutional amendment should be banned or not. Even before this, the court had refused to order the law or order to send the case to a large bench. The court issued a notice to the Central Government seeking the response. In fact, the petition has challenged the constitution of the 124th constitutional constitution in the Supreme Court.
This petition has been filed by Youth for Equality and Advocate Kaushalak Misra and others. According to them, the basis of reservation can not be economical. According to the petition, the legislature is against the fundamental principle of giving reservation to the Constitution, it also gives 10% reservation to the general category and also violates the limit of 50%. Significantly, this bill gives 10 percent reservation to the upper castes in government jobs and educational institutions.
Let me tell you that the Modi Government had introduced a bill to give reservation to economically weaker sections which except the few parties, including the Congress, all the opposition supported the Congress. This bill was passed by the Lok Sabha 323 votes against three, while the Rajya Sabha had passed by 165 votes against seven in the late night on Wednesday night. The Rajya Sabha passed the 124th Constitution Amendment Bill with 165 votes against seven. The House rejected the five amendments of the opposition members, before the Lok Sabha passed it.
